No Confidence in the Flesh
1 Further, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you.~ What do you think Paul meant by "rejoice in the Lord"?
~ What is your response when hearing a message you've already been taught on before? Have you considered God might be reminding you in order to prepare you?
I do struggle with pride so there are times I've felt like "I already know this" but where there's pride there is also the opportunity to be humbled. God has shown me that just because I know something doesn't mean I always do it and just like I have to remind my kids 100 times a day to pick up after themselves He is reminding me of what I am called to. So when I find myself thinking "I've already studied this" or "I've heard this before" I stop and ask myself "How are you applying it?" and "God what are you trying to show me?". I realize now that I learn in layers and many times just because I've studied or read something before doesn't mean God can't show me something new.
ReplyDeleteLearning in layers - I like that! And so true for me as well. I know that the more we grow in our walk with Christ, the more God will reveal to us. So we may have heard something before, but may have not had the capacity at that time to apply it in our lives. When we hear it again, we can "strengthen our armor" by adding another layer of learning and applying Biblical truth in our lives.
