Philippians 1:9-11 (NIV)

9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

~ Has your love continued to flourish or has it become stagnant?  How?
~ Will you pray the prayer from these verses for yourself and others today?

  1. I love these verses and have had others encourage me with them. I will definitely pray these over my loved ones today. The words that really touch me are "that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight" - those go straight to the heart and prayers for discernment are so valuable. It is hard to know what to do or say quickly in everyday situations but, discernment from Christ is so needed. Hope you all are having a beautiful week! Tammy

  2. Today my sister had to decide to put her 12 yr old dog down (appointment tomorrow morning). I can't imagine making that decision, but knowing it's the best for him. I saw this scripture and weeped openly for her, and shared it with her, too. Today and more, I pray this prayer for her.

  3. 1) When I look back, I suppose I can say that my love has grown...well, at least a tiny bit in the past couple years. hehe! Interesting scriptures because I first asked, well "what love?" "love for what? Love of what? God? People? His Word? What kind of love?" I looked up this vs in the Greek and the word for this "love" Paul is referring to is "agape" which is *God's* love: sacrificial, unconditional and manifests as a choice of one's will without expectation or condition of it being returned. whoa! So then I think this prayer is Paul asking for us to *know* God's love more and more..never stopping.. and that when we dive in and get to personally know Him more (know *HIS* "agape" Love), then that's when we will have the ability to really know/understand/see clearly what is right and good in God's eyes and because of that, we'll live it out in daily life with all kinds of "good works" that are right and honorable before God. And more importantly, Paul let's us know that we have the ability to do this because of Jesus Christ!...because of all He did and went through, we can now know God personally, know His amazing love, and have the strength and help and voice of the Holy Spirit to actually live it out! Wow!
These verses for me are yet another reminder of how much God truly wants to be in a *daily* personal relationship with us. Cuz apparently, when we do really dive in to knowing Him more, life is a lot easier... cuz He gives us all the answers! Ha!
    2) YES!! Praying for all of us girls in this Summer study!
