Overview: Philippians

Philippi is a Greek city and the first town in Macedonia (a Roman province) where Paul established a church.  The traditional view is that Paul was writing this letter with the other Prison Epistles (Ephesians, Colossians, and Philemon) during his first imprisonment in Rome.  There are several reasons why Paul wrote this epistle: he expressed thanks, offered clarity and understanding on a decision he had made, informed the recipients about his situation in Rome, encouraged them to unity, and warned them against false teachers.  In this letter we will dig into some interesting incite into Paul, Christ humiliation and exaltation, and the major theme of pursuing Christlikeness, a passion of Paul in his own life.

~ As we get ready to dig into Philippians, how are you feeling: excited? nervous? frustrated? unsure?  How will you ask God to meet you there?
~ How would you most like to see God work in your life right now?
